The fulfillment world is a tough business. If it were easy, everyone would do it. It requires a lot of space, equipment, software, industry knowledge and experience.
Maintaining a 99.95% pick/pack/ship order accuracy is tough. It doesn’t just happen by itself. It requires having good processes in place that set our associates up for success. It requires barcoding and scanning equipment that help us verify items and locations of everything in stock. We have employee incentive programs that help promote a financial reward for getting our clients’ orders out correctly.
Receiving inventory in correctly and putaway for picking in a timely manner is tough.
Having our client’s orders still ship out on time despite a 500% increase in normal order volume is tough.
Getting a kit packing project out on time despite one of the kit components not arriving to FSI as the rest of the pieces is tough.
I could go on with many more examples of FSI being thrown into extraordinary circumstances, yet still making fulfillment look routine. It’s tough work that we pull off on such a regular basis that our clients often come to expect the impossible no matter what obstacles need to be overcome. That’s our job to take on the impossible for our clients so that they don’t have to worry about it. Let us handle the headaches and make you look good. It requires a lot of toughness and teamwork, and FSI has the experience and know how to get it done.
FSI recently had the chance to put that toughness and teamwork on display with a lot of fun at the Tough Mudder. What is the Tough Mudder, you say? Well, it’s one of those mud obstacle events where you complete a course through various types of terrain with physical challenges, and a lot of it requires teamwork to get through them. Tough Mudder describes it as follows:
Since FSI is tough enough to handle your fulfillment, and we do like having a great time together, we decided to enter a group this year. Some obstacles just required you to get a little dirty and complete them yourselves. Others required teamwork where you could not have completed it on your own. One of our favorite team obstacles was the Pyramid Scheme where we literally had to climb all over each other to get to the top and over the wall. It required a lot of physical effort, sacrifice and a ton of communication. That’s not unlike what takes place on a daily basis as FSI to get our client’s pick/pack/ship orders and kit packing projects out on time. Just not with the mud and climbing all over each other. But definitely the teamwork and ton of communication.
It was fun coming back to work and celebrating #HeadbandMonday, a Tough Mudder tradition of showing off your well earned headbands from the weekend. We enjoyed sharing stories with the rest of the FSI employees who hadn’t been able to participate, who now say that this sounded like so much fun that they want to make sure they join us when we do it again next year. Who knows, maybe you’ll join us, too.
