For the last few years, FSI has been having an annual company-wide Tailgate Party/Chili Cook-Off. Everyone wears apparel supporting their favorite sports teams, and we try to throw in some sports related games. This event is also a time that we gather together anyway for a quarterly company meeting going over how the company is doing on various incentive programs, milestone recognitions and other company announcements. We cover some serious business, but we also make sure we have some serious fun doing it.
This year, we brought in some football and basketball carnival style games. They were a huge hit, especially basketball. We even gave out special prizes to the highest scores (mens and womens divisions). Of course, when I decided to do that, who knew that the IT guy would win at both football and basketball for the mens division. The IT guy!
It was hard to pick a winner for the chili cook-off. They were all very deserving. Somehow we ended up with a back-to-back champion despite having blind taste testing judges that were deliberately different employees from previous years. She’s just that good. All the prizes were sports themed, and they were especially geared towards the Falcons since it wasn’t that long ago when we had a company outing to a Falcons game (we’re still swaggin’ and surfin’).
It was a great day had by all. It may look like we played all afternoon, but I assure you that the pick/pack/ship orders and the kit packing projects still went out on time. Can’t wait to do it again next year!
